Windows 8 is set to release next year.
Mike Delman, marketing chief of Microsoft interactive entertainment, said in an interview to Seattle Times that Xbox Live will be “built into the PC”. He added that the online service of the game will be “the pervasive media service across devices.”
The software giant is offering the gaming platform on Windows 8 as a group of services that also includes online media like movies and music streaming.
The company earlier believed to bring the Xbox Live on Windows Phone 7 smartphone operating system but the comments of Mike Delman in the interview confirms that it will also be pushed out to PC beginning with Windows 8.
According to Delman, the trend of the gaming industry was for consumers to navigate the game through multiple devices.
Delman said further that Xbox Live on Windows 8 will also allow gamers to purchase content from any location just like customers of Apple can do with their devices.
He said, “There will be a lot of similarities in design and service philosophy. Whether it’s us or Apple or anybody else, people want to be able to navigate through multiple devices in a certain ecosystem very seamlessly so we’re committed to that”
