Two weeks ago, Ubisoft created its television and film production studio named Ubisoft Motion Pictures. Today, they revealed that they are already making a Assassin’s Creed movie and they are already in the making of a Splinter Cell and a Ghost Recon movie, this movies will be available on 3D.
This series of games have sold 28 million units, 22 million units, and 17 million units life-to-date. The projects will leverage assets at all of Ubisoft’s 23 internal studios, including special-effects house Hybride technologies (300, Watchmen), which it acquired in July 2008. The film division is already working with the game developers so they can make original storylines that are consistent.
Ubisoft already made live-action shorts based on the Assassin’s Creed series named Assasin’s Creed Lineage. We hope that they can do a good job with the film like they did it with the shorts.
In addition to this three video game films, Ubisoft is also planning a series of animated shorts based on its comic line of Raving Rabbids video games. The series will be computer animated, will be available in 3D, and will comprise of 78 seven-minute episodes.
